Last week, with the help of the Toronto chapter of the Google Developer Group, we hosted for the 9th year running, the AndroidTO conference. Every year we are in awe of the talent and calibre of Toronto and GTA’s finest developers that come together for a day of networking and learning from other well accomplished Google and Android Developers.
Convening at the hub of Toronto’s MaRS Discovery District, the AndroidTO stage was graced by developers from some of the world’s most revered companies, including Slack, Shopify, Patreon, Facebook, Square, Lookout, Google (of course), and more. Topics they touched on ranged from better ways to create app login processes to performing magic using the command line, and machine learning to thinking like a hacker to perform better APK audits.
On top of the knowledge we were able to share through our creative and talented presenters to all those in attendance, we were especially excited this year to be able to give an even more special gift away at the end of the conference. The AndroidTO conference has always had a mission to better the developer community, we decided that this year we would also use some of the proceeds of the conference to help better another community as well. Thanks to all of the people that purchased tickets to the event and our generous sponsors, we were able to make a $10,000 donation to the Sick Kids Foundation as part of their #Tech4SickKids initiative. Hosting this conference every year inspires us, but being able to make a significant contribution to such a worthy cause makes us feel even more.
In the coming weeks we will be sharing all of the talks and presentations from AndroidTO, so keep an eye out for those here on the Intersect blog or through any of your social feeds (if you don’t already, you can follow us on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram). While you’re anxiously waiting for those videos to be released, check out this highlight reel of everything that went down at AndroidTO 2018:
Thank you again to everyone that came out to AndroidTO this year, all of the speakers, the sponsors, and, of course, the fabulous community of developers that came to learn and connect with one another.
This was our best year yet, next year is our big 10th anniversary – we are already so excited to share what we have in store!
We’ll see you then.
